Erie nurse charged over 2025 crash on West 26th Street

An Erie nurse charged in a serious 2025 crash was allegedly inhaling nitrous oxide from a balloon while driving to work before the collision. That’s according to recent court documents.

Erie police said Stephanie Weaver crossed the center line on West 26th Street while traveling between 67 and 71 miles an hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone, causing a three-vehicle crash that seriously injured three people.

Car collision leads to main road closure, multiple taken to hospital

Investigators also alleged a search of her vehicle uncovered multiple controlled substances, and that a separate investigation found inconsistencies involving medication dispensing records at Saint Vincent Hospital that they said allowed for drug diversion.
