The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is reminding people to stay safe while recreating outdoors. Officials say to always tell someone where you’re going and when you plan to return. They also recommend checking conditions before leaving, noting that rain in the valley can mean ice at higher elevations. People should be prepared to stay out overnight, even if they don’t plan to leave their car. Officials say to bring maps for offline navigation since cell service can be spotty.
