EUGENE, Ore. – The Owen Rose Garden is in full bloom with thousands of roses on display through approximately the end of June.
The garden features more than 4,500 rose bushes representing 400 unique varieties. Visitors can see heritage roses, which bloom only once a year, while some “repeat bloomers” will provide a second chance late in the summer or early fall.
George E. Owen, a former Eugene City councilor and lumberman, created the garden in 1951 when he donated five acres, including his house, to the city. It was the first parcel in a series that now spans more than eight acres…
