EPD targets Hwy. 99 with dozens of stops and citations

EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene Police Department officers are increasing traffic enforcement along Highway 99 as part of the department’s 2026 focus on traffic safety.

EPD officials said that, on June 9, a recruit and training officer spent four hours focusing on all roadway users along the highway. The officers made five stops and issued two citations, one for driving without a license and one for a pedestrian failing to yield to a car, according to EPD.

Other patrol teams have also increased attention on Highway 99 traffic issues between responding to priority calls. On June 8, officers made 10 stops, issuing one citation and nine warnings. The stops included one bike stop, seven person stops and two traffic stops…
