EUGENE, Ore. — With new attention on elder abuse, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to watch for warning signs and report suspected mistreatment of vulnerable adults.
The sheriff’s office said statistics show as many as one in 10 people age 60 or older experience some type of abuse. The agency noted abuse can take many forms, including physical abuse, emotional abuse and financial exploitation, and said these crimes often go unreported.
