EUGENE, OR — César Chávez Elementary School in Eugene is keeping its name for now.
During a special meeting held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the Eugene School District 4J Board of Directors voted unanimously to move forward with efforts to rename the school during the upcoming school year. The vote does not immediately change the school’s name. Instead, it authorizes district officials to begin a formal process to explore a potential new name and gather input from students, families, staff and community members.
