The Eugene Springfield Fire Department is launching Oregon’s first Prehospital Whole Blood Transfusion Program, which will allow paramedics to carry and administer plasma and blood to patients suffering hemorrhagic shock on their way to local hospitals.
The program, which launches July 6, is funded through the Oregon Health Authority’s Hospital Preparedness Program.
