COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Circle of Friends School has secured federal funding to buy a fully accessible school bus for students with significant disabilities.
The Lane Transit District Board approved more than $179,000 in federal funding for the project. The new bus will fit up to 10 wheelchairs and help students get to learning opportunities across Lane County.
“I think that we often take for granted the enrichment that learning which happens in person, in museums, in parks, in science centers, how beneficial that is to kids, and our youth because of the distance and because of the barriers that exist with transportation, they just don’t have the access to that,” said Michael Aguilar, executive director of Circle of Friends School…
