EUGENE, OR — Dallas junior Hunter Pitcavage saved his best for last.
Competing against nearly 50 of the nation’s top javelin throwers at Nike Outdoor Nationals on Sunday, Pitcavage unleashed a personal-best throw of 224 feet on his final attempt to secure the national championship and bring home gold for the Mountaineers.
The winning throw not only earned Pitcavage the biggest victory of his career, but it also elevated him into elite company nationally. His mark of 224 feet would rank No. 2 in the United States this season and further solidifies his status as one of the premier javelin throwers in the country…
