For its plant in west Eugene, Weyerhaeuser is seeking to renew its Title V Operating Permit — a permit the federal Clean Air Act requires for states to regulate major sources of hazardous air pollution.
The plant, at 195 N. Bertelsen Road, produces laminated veneer lumber and I-joists, wood products widely used for framing floors and roofs.
Weyerhaeuser’s plant has operated under Title V status since the early 2000s, renewing its permit with Lane Regional Air Protection Agency (LRAPA) every five years. The permit essentially oversees two categories of air emission types: one covers hazardous air pollutants, and the other combines greenhouse gas emissions, particulate matter and other common pollutants.
