EUGENE, Ore. — More than five decades after 34-year-old Barbara Katherine Cunningham was found dead in her Eugene apartment, the Eugene Police Department’s Cold Case Squad is again asking the public for help in solving her killing.
Cunningham was killed sometime between May 24, 1:30 p.m. and May 25, 9:40 a.m., 1971, police said. Her body was discovered by her mother inside Cunningham’s apartment at 433 West 8th Ave., No. 3, according to EPD.
Investigators determined Cunningham died of strangulation, police said. At the time of her death, Cunningham was estranged from her husband, who was living in Sweden, EPD said.
Police are urging anyone with information to submit an anonymous tip through the city’s cold case webpage at https://www.eugene-or.gov/4880/Cold-Cases, where the public can also view other cold case investigations…
