A security guard was arrested after Eugene police said he assaulted a man collecting cans early Monday morning and then ran off with the man’s bag of cans.
The incident happened just before 4 a.m. Aug. 31 in the 800 block of East 11th Avenue. Police said the victim flagged down an officer and reported he had been struck by a security guard five to six times with a metal flashlight.
The victim said there were no “no trespassing” signs as he collected cans from the dumpster area when a security guard told him to leave. Police said the victim gathered his belongings and his bag of cans, but the guard snatched the bag and began walking away…
