Dozens of rowing teams compete at Lowell State Park regatta

LOWELL, Ore. – Dozens of rowing teams from across the region competed at Dexter Lake on April 11 and 12 during the Juniors Covered Bridge Regatta.

The Oregon Association of Rowers held the event at Lowell State Park for high school-age athletes. More than 40 teams from Arizona to British Columbia participated, giving rowers in the greater Eugene area a chance to compete close to home since the nearest competitive racing is more than 100 miles away.

“It’s just great to have everyone here where you can meet face-to-face, compete head-to-head,” said Noah Parsons, director of Covered Bridge Regatta, said. “You don’t get that opportunity every week. Traveling is a big deal. You can see from the size of the boats and the logistics involved. So there’s not that many events.”…
