NWS posts rainfall totals from weekend downpours

The National Weather Service in Paducah completed its tornado damage survey, and turned to the flash flooding numbers from four states.

Multiple rounds of very heavy rain and training thunderstorms moved across our region from the afternoon of June 25th through the morning of June 28th. Rainfall totals of 3 to 12″ were observed which resulted in considerable to major flash flooding in many communities including Evansville, Owensboro, Paducah, and Cape Girardeau.

The flash flooding was as much a result of the rate of the rainfall, sometimes an inch in only 15 minutes or 2 inches in 30 minutes…
