HENDERSON, Ky. — Henderson Water Utility will receive $2 million in state and federal funding to begin replacing a temporary raw water intake that has left the South Water Treatment Plant vulnerable to flooding and equipment failure.
U.S. Rep. James Comer, R-Tompkinsville, and state Rep. J.T. Payne, R-Henderson, announced the funding Thursday at the utility’s offices. The money will pay for the first phase of an estimated $8.5 million project to build a permanent intake structure on the Green River and install roughly 3,000 feet of new pipeline.
