Henderson prepares for hot, crowded Independence Day on riverfront

HENDERSON, Ky. — As Henderson prepared for its Independence Day celebration along the Ohio River on Friday, police and local vendors stressed safety amid scorching temperatures and large crowds expected for the city’s commemoration of America’s 250th birthday.

With highs climbing into the mid-90s and heat index values exceeding 100 degrees, the city urged residents and visitors to stay hydrated and exercise caution during the evening festivities at the riverfront.
