EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Boaters on the Ohio River can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence this summer as the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and Evansville Police Department will begin having their joint river patrol initiative.
The patrol unit is on the water every weekend, covering approximately 36 miles of shoreline with a focus on keeping boaters and their passengers safe.
Deputies are checking for a variety of safety issues, including making sure children are wearing properly fitted life jackets, watercraft display visible registration numbers, and boaters are following state boating laws…
