No threat to Henderson school after “modified” lockdown

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Henderson County High School and North Middle School were placed on what authorities describe as a “modified school lockdown” on Wednesday morning after a report was made of someone walking around with a handgun.

During an investigation, Henderson Police say they located an individual matching the description. The man reportedly did have a firearm on him, but he never violated the law by walking onto school property. The man was located at a nearby restaurant waiting for a ride.

Authorities say a modified school lockdown means all exterior doors are secured and students and staff are required to remain inside, however instruction within the building continues as normal. The Henderson Police Department says the lockdown was precautionary and there was no threat inside the schools…
