HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Henderson County High School and North Middle School were placed on what authorities describe as a “modified school lockdown” on Wednesday morning after a report was made of someone walking around with a handgun.
During an investigation, Henderson Police say they located an individual matching the description. The man reportedly did have a firearm on him, but he never violated the law by walking onto school property. The man was located at a nearby restaurant waiting for a ride.
Authorities say a modified school lockdown means all exterior doors are secured and students and staff are required to remain inside, however instruction within the building continues as normal.
