Family Jerked Awake As 3-Alarm Inferno Guts Evansville Home

A pre-dawn three-alarm fire ripped through a single-family home on the 3100 block of Koring Road in Evansville early Wednesday, forcing a family out into the dark but leaving everyone uninjured. Fire crews spent hours battling the blaze and working to keep flames from jumping to neighboring houses.

What officials say

Vanderburgh County dispatch reports that crews were called out around 3:28 a.m., with the incident quickly upgraded to a three-alarm response that brought in Vanderburgh County Fire, units from Warrick County and deputies from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, according to WFIE. The station notes firefighters had the main body of the fire under control by about 5:30 a.m., and investigators stayed on scene afterward to sort out what sparked the blaze.
