OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEVV) — A long-standing restaurant in Owensboro has abruptly shut its doors, marking the end of an era for both customers and staff. MOD Pizza, located on Hartland Crossing, has permanently closed after nine years in operation, with employees saying they were given no advance notice.
The sudden closure came as a shock to workers, including former general manager Matthew Slater, who described the experience as overwhelming. “For this to happen, it was like a punch in the face,” Slater said.
According to Slater, there were early signs something was wrong when he arrived at work and noticed unusual activity. “I saw the Evansville manager walking in, which I’d never seen before,” he said. “Then I noticed equipment piled up, things that just weren’t normal.”…
