MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — Berkeley County is set to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence with a weeklong slate of “Carolina Days” events highlighting South Carolina’s Revolutionary War history and local patriot pride.
The celebration begins Thursday, June 25 at 4:30 p.m., with “Lafayette and the War for Independence,” a presentation by Joe Volpi, chairperson of Lafayette’s Bicentennial Tour of Our Nation, at the Daniel Island Library. On Saturday, June 27 at 1 p.m., award‑winning actor Chris Weatherhead will perform Rebecca Brewton Motte and the Revolutionary War at Old Santee Canal Park’s Interpretive Center in Moncks Corner.
Sunday’s 11 a.m. program, June 28, features a live reading of the Declaration of Independence by Revolutionary‑clad historian Jeff Neale at Moncks Corner United Methodist Church.
