TAMPA, Fla. — On this Memorial Day, Tampa’s American Legion is reminding the community that the day isn’t a celebration but, rather, a time to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
It’s a tradition that dates back more than a century for American Legion U.S.S. Tampa Post 5. A total of 734 flags were placed at the graves of 734 Hillsborough County veterans from the Spanish-American War and every conflict since.
