Vacant N.J. ice cream factory site to become 92-unit luxury rental

Accordia Real Estate has secured a $30.7 million construction loan to finance a 92-unit luxury apartment building in Essex County.

The four-story rental development in West Caldwell, known as The Vail, will include 19 affordable units, covered parking and amenities such as a fitness center, co-working areas, a dog park and grilling stations, according to a statement from Accordia.

The site, located two miles from Route 46, has sat vacant since Welsh Farms Ice Cream Inc. left the property and the former factory was demolished…
