HONOLULU (KHON2) — On Memorial Day, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said there will not be any contraflow operations or lane closures.
Drivers should anticipate traffic on the following day, as multiple scheduled closures begin on Tuesday, May 26.
Freeway lane closures
H-1 Freeway
From Kapolei to Kunia, maintenance activities are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. through Thursday, May 28 to address complaints:
- Roving shoulder closure on the right-hand side of the freeway, possible in either direction, between the Kalaeloa Interchange and the Kunia Interchange
In Kapolei, two lanes will be closed in the westbound direction between the Makakilo interchange and Kualakai Parkway from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. through Thursday, May 28 for demolition and installation work:
- One side will be closed at a time, including the left lane of the Makakilo off-ramp
The Pearl City area has multiple scheduled lane closures:
- Viaduct repairs will close four lanes in the westbound direction between the Waiawa Road overpass and the Kaamilo Street overpass from 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. through Thursday, May 28
- Slope improvements will close the right shoulder of the Waipahu off-ramp, also known as Exit 8B, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, May 29
Between the airport viaduct to Kahala, there will be a roving single lane closure on the right side of the freeway:
- Pothole, litter and sign requests will be addressed between Puuloa Road and Ainakoa Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Thursday, May 28
