- High temperatures near 90 degrees today
- Slight chances for showers and storms tonight and into Wednesday
- A bit cooler with mostly dry conditions later in the week and into the weekend
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The weather in South Central Wisconsin is shaping up to be quite warm, with plenty of sunshine and a brief mid-week interruption as a cold front moves through. Tuesday brings a good deal of sunshine and very warm conditions, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s under light southwest winds. It will feel like a true taste of summer before a transition arrives.
What’s Coming Up…
By mid-week, changes are on the horizon. Wednesday begins partly sunny, but a backdoor cold front sliding southward will introduce a chance of afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms.
This front will trigger a noticeable shift in the wind direction, turning out of the northeast by the afternoon. Ahead of the boundary, daytime highs will manage to reach the lower 80s, but cooler air will quickly filter into Dane County and the surrounding areas during the overnight hours, bringing nighttime lows down into the lower 50s.
Once that front clears, a broad area of high pressure builds over the western Great Lakes, dominating the region for the remainder of the week and through the upcoming weekend. Thursday will see a return to full sunshine, accompanied by cooler, more comfortable afternoon highs in the middle 70s and breezy northeast winds. Thursday night will be the chilliest night of the stretch, with clear skies allowing temperatures to dip down into the lower 50s.
Looking Ahead…
A gradual recovery begins on Friday, as the sunshine continues and temperatures push back up to around the 80-degree mark, with very light and calm winds. This beautiful trend stays locked in right through the weekend…
