Leawood priest formerly charged with stealing more than $100,000 from parish

OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) – A Leawood priest has been formally charged, accused of stealing from his former parish.

Father Richard Storey made his first court appearance Tuesday, May 26. He is charged with stealing more than $100,000 from Curé of Ars, the Leawood parish where he previously served.

A judge ordered Storey to house arrest and he will be monitored by GPS as the case moves forward. The judge also ordered drug screening and barred him from contacting any victims or witnesses.

The Archdiocese said it is fully cooperating with law enforcement and will continue to respect the investigative process. Church leaders said they will not release additional information until both the civil criminal case and the internal process are complete…
