We saw the flashers from the fire truck before we could hear it.

On a Wednesday night last week, the alarm tripped in our condo complex in our little corner of Dorchester. Barely 10 minutes later, the red lights strobed through my living room window as the truck from our local station lumbered down our narrow street.
