NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — After a brief lull overnight, the flood threat ramps back up Wednesday as another round of heavy rain and storms moves into southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi. Flash flooding remains the main concern through the rest of the week, especially in areas that have already picked up several inches of rain over the past few days.
Rain chances stay fairly low overnight, but a cluster of storms moving across western Louisiana could begin pushing into the area around sunrise Wednesday. Those storms are expected to weaken as they arrive, but could still bring torrential rainfall and gusty winds to parts of western and northern sections of the area.
By late Wednesday morning into the afternoon, attention shifts farther east. Forecast models continue to show a boundary setting up near the New Orleans metro, the Northshore, and the Mississippi Coast.
