Shreveport E. 70th hotel lender cites ‘bad actors’ for delays: ‘We do not intend to walk away’

Members of the City Council got little new information on a Shreveport hotel under construction for more than five years.

Most recently a Wyndham Hotel, there have been plans to reopen the property at 1419 East 70th St. as a dual-use TownPlace Suites and more upscale SpringHill Suites, which will include a Boston’s Pizza Restaurant and Sports Bar.

Councilmembers Grayson Boucher and Jim Taliaferro, whose districts are both impacted by the unfinished hotel, asked Paul Diamond, GreenLake Real Estate Fund LLC’s Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, to come to Shreveport with an update.

GreenLake is the company that holds a nearly $93 million mortgage on the property — not the current owner or developer — facts Diamond made clear several times during his council conversation…
