Search suspended after days-long effort for missing North Shore jet ski rider; case remains open

HONOLULU, Hawaii (Island News) — After days of searching by air, land and sea off Oahu’s North Shore, active search efforts have now been suspended for a missing jet ski rider.

Search crews spent the last several days looking for 56-year-old Anthony Empting after his personal watercraft was found drifting offshore near Mokulēʻia on Saturday morning.

Officials say Empting departed from Haleʻiwa Harbor before a passing vessel later spotted the unmanned watercraft offshore near the Dillingham Airfield area. Responders found the jet ski with the keys still in the ignition and personal belongings still onboard…
