Up to 163 student housing beds could be added to the Reformed Theological Seminary property in Oviedo under a proposed zoning change scheduled to go before the Oviedo City Council on Monday.
The proposal would update the existing Kingsbridge development agreement for the 63.16 acre property north of East Mitchell Hammock Road at Eastbridge Drive. Plans include the student housing beds across the site, including a possible 40-bed dormitory or “bunk house.” If built, the remaining housing for up to 123 students could be developed on another section of the property. The proposal also includes two single-family homes for caretaker and administrative use.
City planners said the proposal would not increase the property’s already-approved 120 multifamily units. However, the city must still approve changes to the existing Kingsbridge development agreement because dormitory-style student housing is not currently allowed on the property.
