Police swarm downtown Syracuse hotel after gunfire reported in room. It was a false alarm

Syracuse, N.Y. – More than 15 police officers, some with long guns, rushed to the Marriott Syracuse Downtown in Syracuse Thursday afternoon after someone reported gunshots fired in a hotel room.

It turned out to be a false report, said Sgt. Tom Blake, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department.

Police were called to the former Hotel Syracuse at 100 E. Onondaga St. around 3:59 p.m. after the Onondaga County 911 Center received a text saying three shots were fired inside the building, Blake said. The text said the shots were fired in a room on the eighth floor, according to 911 dispatches…
