Man accused of taking payment for unfinished repairs arrested in Randolph County, deputies say

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A 42-year-old man faces multiple fraud-related charges after investigators said he accepted payment for repairs that were never completed, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

John Clay Jackson was arrested May 20 in Archdale by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team and taken to the Randolph County Detention Center. Authorities said Jackson was served with seven outstanding warrants, including seven counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and three counts of failure to work after being paid.

The investigation began March 26 after deputies received a report of possible fraud involving repair work that allegedly was not completed after payment was made. Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, investigators sought charges against Jackson for felony obtaining property by false pretenses and misdemeanor failure to work after being paid.
