NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Additional charges have been filed against a North Charleston man after a child suffered severe burns during a bath at a hotel on Rivers Avenue in early May, authorities said.
Hunter Matthew Yancey, was taken into custody on May 15 and was originally charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. On May 29, police announced that an additional charge of abuse to a child involving great bodily harm has been added to the case.
According to the report from the initial incident, Yancey told police that he did not check the temperature of the bath water before placing the child into the tub, leading to the child suffering severe burns.
