BEREA — Lacey Reichert knew what her Amherst Comets were up against in the Division II regional final at Roehm Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon.
“The lineup they have and to hold them to five through six (innings),” Reichert said. “I thought (Comets starting pitcher) Karina (Shuster) was outstanding. They had some deep at-bats. The No. 2 hitter had a 12-, 13-pitch at-bat. They have tough outs in that lineup.”
Walsh Jesuit, who has won 23 games since a season-opening loss out of state in March, proved to be a bit too much for the gutsy Comets during a 6-2 victory. The Warriors will make their fifth appearance next week in the state tournament, hoping to bring home a third championship. Amherst finished its season at 19-11…
