Troopers Arrest Driver After Pursuit in Stolen SUV Through Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – A driver was taken into custody early May 28 after leading Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on a high-speed pursuit in a vehicle reported stolen by the Austin Police Department.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Capitol Region troopers spotted a black Chevrolet SUV at approximately 3:54 a.m. that had been reported stolen.

Troopers followed the vehicle southbound on Interstate 35 while waiting for additional units to assist with a traffic stop.

When emergency lights and sirens were activated, authorities said the driver refused to stop, accelerated, and weaved through traffic while reaching speeds of approximately 92 mph…
