A motorized scooter rider was killed Saturday morning after a collision with a vehicle on Sylvan Road near Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights, according to police. Officers arrived to find the rider injured in the roadway and tried life-saving measures, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The Citrus Heights Police Department has not released the victim’s name as the investigation continues.

As reported by The Sacramento Bee, the vehicle and motorized scooter collided shortly before 9:30 a.m. Police say the vehicle’s driver is cooperating with investigators, and southbound lanes of Sylvan Road between Stock Ranch Road and Greenback Lane were temporarily shut down while officers examined the scene. The Citrus Heights Police Department said officers rendered aid at the scene but were unable to save the rider.
