BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala. (NBC 15) — In the Seafood Capital of Alabama, residents expect the smells that come with a working waterfront. What Ralph Jensen and his wife Angela Rubattino say they didn’t expect is the smell of seafood waste lingering outside their home.
“It’s horrendous. It’s putrefied seafood waste, and there’s quite a bit of it over there,” said Jensen.
The waste is on property that’s in Thomas Steele’s family on Hemley Street. He declined to go on camera but says he uses the seafood waste for fertilizer and composting. He says he’s not violating any rules or regulations…
