Amtrak’s first Northeast Regional Airo trainset completes manufacturing. Also, Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) and Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Sacramento unveil a new mural and transit wrap celebrating women in transportation; the chance to see Union Pacific’s (UP) Big Boy No. 4014 in Chicago is just a Metra ride away on the UP West Line; and Vancouver’s Broadway Subway project advances as train testing gets under way.

The new Airo trainset has officially departed Siemens’ Sacramento facility. After years of planning, design, and manufacturing, this moment brings the next chapter of Northeast Regional travel one step closer.

These trains, Amtrak says, will elevate the experience along the busiest rail corridor in the country: from modern interiors and improved accessibility to a more comfortable and consistent travel experience.

Now headed to Pueblo, Colo., for testing, revenue service is expected to commence in 2027…
