Volunteer officers worked overtime to patrol roadways where pedestrian deaths occurred

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – 92 people in the past decade were hit and killed by vehicles within the Municipality of Anchorage, according to data released in a 2026 report by the State of Alaska Epidemiology that tracked pedestrian-vehicle fatalities from 2016 to 2025.

“There’s just been too many crashes between vehicles and pedestrians and other vulnerable road users in Anchorage,” Sgt. David Noll, with the Anchorage Police Department (APD), said.

Anchorage began seeing a spike in pedestrians hit by vehicles in 2024 and 2025. Last year, the department reported 15 pedestrians killed by vehicles, the highest it has seen in the past decade…
