Saratoga Springs man gets more than 8 years in prison for cocaine trafficking

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (WNYT) — A Saratoga County man is heading to prison after prosecutors said he brought more than 6 ounces of cocaine into Saratoga Springs.

According to a news release from Saratoga County District Attorney Brett R. Eby, John Campanella was sentenced May 28 in Saratoga County Court to 8 1/2 years in prison and two years of post-release supervision. Prosecutors said Campanella pleaded guilty March 10 to two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The District Attorney’s Office said the charges came from a long-term investigation by the Saratoga Springs Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit. Investigators executed two search warrants at Campanella’s home and said they recovered more than a quarter pound of cocaine, more than one-half ounce of cocaine, cash, cell phones and scales used to weigh and distribute narcotics…
