EMSA issues first Medical Heat Alert of 2026 after eight heat related illness calls in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — EMSA issued its first Medical Health Alert of 2026 after responding to multiple heat-related calls across Oklahoma City on Monday.

Paramedics responded to at least eight suspected heat-related illness calls across the city as of 4 p.m. Monday. A spokesperson with EMSA said Medical Heat Alerts are issued when Paramedics respond to five or more heat-related illness calls in 24 hours.
