Dallas rapper Dorrough Music brought together multiple generations of Texas hip-hop for the inaugural Dorrough & Friends concert Friday, May 29, at Trees Dallas.
The event featured artists from Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and other parts of Texas, with a lineup representing established regional performers and emerging acts. Featured talent included Big Tuck, Chalie Boy, Tum Tum, Erica Banks, Twisted Black, Yung Nation, The Party Boyz, GS Boyz, Oh Boy Prince, 10K Caash, S3nsi Molly, JhonnieDamnD, DJ XO, Whip The Rapper and others.
The concert also contributed to an ongoing conversation about Dallas’ place in Southern hip-hop. While cities such as Houston, Atlanta, Memphis, Miami and New Orleans are frequently highlighted in discussions of Southern rap history, Dallas has produced artists and records that have contributed to the genre across multiple eras.
