Man gets 25 years in prison for running over Hillsborough County deputy, breaking his legs

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man will spend over two decades in prison for a 2024 incident in which he rammed a Hillsborough County deputy with his vehicle, breaking both of the deputy’s legs.

A judge sentenced William Lewis to 25 years in prison followed by eight years of probation, the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Authorities said Lewis was fleeing from a traffic stop when the incident unfolded on July 5, 2024.
