Smithville Police end wrong-way chase on I-29, suspect in custody

SMITHVILLE, Mo. (KCTV) – A suspected burglar is in custody after Smithville Police ended a wrong-way chase on the interstate.

Police say officers were alerted around Tuesday morning to a possible burglary in progress. Witnesses reported that the suspect’s vehicle fled the scene after shots were fired.

Authorities note that an officer quickly located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver initially pulled over, then sped away, triggering a chase that crossed into Platte County on southbound I-29.
