Brothers accused of stealing more than $1.6M in Medicaid funds

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– The owners of two Medicaid transportation companies in Clifton Park have been arrested for allegedly filing false claims, defrauding the Medicaid system of $1.6 million dollars, the state comptroller’s office announced. Officials said Jawad Choudhary, 44, and his brother Junaid Choudhary, 43, both face grand larceny charges.

In October 2024, troopers reached out to the comptroller’s office regarding providers who were allegedly submitting fake bills to the program. An initial investigation and forensic audit determined that A1 Rides Inc. and NY Jet Transport Inc., owned by the brothers, were allegedly submitting the fake claims from 2021 to 2025.

Investigators said the two were claiming payments for rides that were never actually provided, along with two other defendants, Danya Matthew, 56, and Kenneth Smith, 34, both of New York City…
