LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Nine vehicles hit the railroad bridge at 3rd and Winkler near the University of Louisville campus during the first three days of the two-month I-65 summer shutdown.
City and state workers checked a warning system that was installed five years ago Wednesday. The laser height detection system is mounted on poles near the bridge. Once a vehicle that is large enough passes, it triggers the over-height warning sign ahead of the underpass.
On Third Street heading south, the sign tells drivers to turn left onto Eastern Parkway before the bridge.
