The more than 1,200-square-foot modular home was constructed by students in Construction I and II classes. The house was built under the guidance of teacher Jim Verhagen.
The district said that hands-on learning experiences, such as this project, help students develop practical skills useful to homeowners as well as those pursuing a career in construction, architecture or other building related fields.

When students complete the courses, school officials said they also gain experience in safety, building materials, estimating, and the design and installation of basic electrical and plumbing systems. Additionally, they learn blueprint interpretation, framing, building code requirements and the methods of constructing buildings.
The modular home is now being advertised to the community for those interested to bid on. It’s currently situated behind High School East. View the listing for the home online.
