Preparing pets for hurricanes before a storm threatens

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Experts recommend making sure pets have updated identification, including collar tags and microchip information, in case they become separated during a storm. Owners should also keep vaccination records and other important documents together in a waterproof container that can be quickly grabbed during an evacuation.

Having a pet emergency kit ready can save valuable time. It should include food, water, medications, leashes, bowls, vaccination records, waste bags, and comfort items to help pets remain calm.
