2 murder trials underway in Mobile County

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Two separate murder trials are under way in Mobile County.

Anthony Alston is accused of shooting Jamarcus Lewis at the M&M Food Mart on U.S. 90 in Theodore in 2022. According to testimony at an earlier hearing, surveillance video from a nearby gas station captured the shooting and the fight that led to it.

In the other trial, Deangelo Merrill is accused of killing a disabled veteran in a mistaken-identity revenge killing in 2021. Prosecutors allege the Mobile man was angry that his girlfriend got caught between two men shooting at each other and went to Pathways Apartment Homes off Florida Street looking for revenge…
